Rotary Environmental Innovators Fund (REIF) Award Recipient Megan Ward is a Freshwater ecologist for the Land Between, and is currently a PhD candidate at Trent University. Her innovative project addresses a nature component of Youth literacy. The delivery mechanism is via the public library and education system will ensure her valuable message is accessible to all students. She will update the membership on the status of her work and expected publication date.

The library is just the front for a hidden 1920s speakeasy, where guests can expect:

Our guest speaker will be Noor Ra’fat who has been a familiar face on CHEX TV for a number of years. She is originally from Egypt but lived most of her life in Saudi Arabia, and for a number of years she has been a reporter, feature journalist and a TV anchor. She followed her dreams and goals and came to Canada to attend post-secondary school, earned a broadcast journalism diploma from Durham College and completed an honours degree in media studies at Trent University. For the past 3 years she has been working at Global News Toronto as a video journalist and anchor. She is an active volunteer, including for combatting homelessness and sexual violence. She enjoys watching movies, skateboarding going to the beach and the gym. Who knows where her dreams will take her in the future, but her message to everyone is never give up on your dreams or goals in life.

About our Speaker: Lynne Chant

Lynne Chant is a longtime Rotarian with 27 years of service and extensive leadership experience at both the club and district levels. A Past District Governor of Rotary District 7010, Lynne has also served as Assistant Governor, District Membership Director, District Trainer and Assistant Regional Rotary Foundation Coordinator.

Lynne’s commitment to The Rotary Foundation deepened following a 2009 Rotary service trip to Ecuador, where she joined fellow Rotarians in distributing wheelchairs. She has since become a dedicated Foundation supporter and is a multiple Paul Harris Fellow, a member of the Bequest Society and a PolioPlus Society member.

Currently serving as District 7010 Foundation Director, Lynne will join us during Rotary Foundation Month to share more about the Foundation and the impact Rotarians make possible through their support.
