Peterborough Folk Festival Update
Rob Davis, Chair of the Peterborough Folk Festival, will share an update on this year's festival, it's impact on the community and it's plans for the future. Rob has served as Chair of Peterborough Folk Festival from 2022 to date, and as the Secretary from 2016 through 2022. A life-long lover and supporter of live original music, Rob attended his first Peterborough Folk Festival upon moving to town in 1999 and was immediately struck with the wonderful vibe of the free-admission festival and the strength of Peterborough's music community. Rob's career was in natural resources, working in parks and protected areas, forestry and land use planning. From 2010 through 2022, Rob was the Senior Manager of Protected Areas Section in Ontario Parks, followed by two years working on Indigenous-led protected area initiatives with the federal Environment and Climate Change Canada. With the festival, Rob brings a collaborative approach with a focus on valuing people and their contributions, and growing the festival to be more welcoming and sustainable in every way. At home, Rob also enjoys contributing to music and community as a volunteer house concert host, having hosted 120 house concerts to date since 2007 in their modified living room that he and his spouse call the Gilmour Street Music Hall.
